The Pet Friends Hospital is the top pet charity in Dubai, collaborating with numerous animal welfare groups to offer discounted prices for TNR services. Our aim is to maintain the well-being of cats and dogs to prevent them from ending up on the streets with a multitude of abandoned puppies and kittens.
What is TNR and Why is it Important?
Trap-neuter-return (TNR) is a humane and effective method of trapping, spaying or neutering, and returning free-roaming cats and dogs. These animals are also checked for microchips, given vaccinations, treated for fleas, and then released back to their original location.
TNR is crucial in reducing the practice of trapping and euthanizing animals, as well as alleviating the burden on overcrowded shelters and rescue organizations. The primary goal of TNR is to decrease the population of stray cats and dogs, enhance their health and well-being, and ultimately improve the relationship between humans and animals. Cats, in particular, play a valuable role in naturally controlling the rodent population. In exchange for their assistance, it is our responsibility as humans to provide them with essential medical care.
What is ear tipping and why is it necessary?
Ear tipping is a globally recognized sign for a cat that has been spayed or neutered. The tips of the ears are clearly marked from a distance, making it easy for people to notice and identify a cat that has been spayed or neutered. The sterilization procedure is done immediately after ear tipping, in a clean environment under anesthesia, and it does not cause much pain. Ear tipping also does not leave any noticeable changes in the cat's appearance.
Tips:
- Never handle a cat without an appointment for sterilization.
- Make sure to cover the trap with a blanket or towel when the cat is inside.
- Never open the trap while the cat is trapped inside.
